TGS
MEMBERSHIP:

The
society's membership averages 700 individuals from the Topeka, Kansas
trade territory and from many other states in the nation. We have nine
regular
meetings per year, a major conference each year and an annual Open House at
the Society's library. We cordially invite your membership in TGS.

PRIVILEGES
OF MEMBERSHIP:

Subscription
to TGS Quarterly, (started in 1971) a periodical
covering early Shawnee and other Kansas county records with an
annual surname index. The TGS
Quarterly also includes an annual index of county by county
vital records printed in Kansas genealogical periodicals.

Subscription
to TGS News & Views newsletter which contains
a calendar of area geneolgical events, TGS business and geneolgical
projects, national/international research excerpts, meeting notices
and other pertinent information.

Access
to more than 13,000 ancestor cards in the TGS Ancestor File at
the library.

Use
of the TGS library with 4 week check-out privileges for
books and bound periodicals. Family memberships may check out eight
books/periodicals at one time, individual members four.

Free
queries in the TGS Quarterly and on this TGS
web site. Members may submit a query on any ancestor regardless
of time or place.

Genealogical
research and record forms are available to members at reduced cost.

Monthly
meetings, an annual genealogy conference and special interest groups
are also organized to be of interest to members in their pursuit
of family history.

Basics
of Family Research classes (started in 1986), Family Tree Maker
instructional classes, Basic German Research and Computer Genealogical
special interest groups
are all available (see Education), most at
special membership rates.

Genealogical
research trips to other libraries and historical sites are arranged
through the auspices of TGS, in conjunction with other societies.
