• To promote and stimulate the education, knowledge and interest of the membership and the public in family history, genealogical records and research

• To acquire genealogical and historical information to be shared among its members and the public

• To perpetuate the recording and preservation of genealogical source materials and records of our ancestors

The Society operates an extensive library in Topeka, open to the general public for a small fee, located at 2717 SE Indiana Ave. The Topeka Genealogical Society also publishes a bi-monthly newsletter (News and Views) and a Quarterly journal. In cooperation with the Kansas State Historical Society and other Kansas county genealogical societies, TGS publishes collections of records such as marriages, cemeteries, naturalizations, probates, obituaries and newspaper extractions.
Interest in and preservation of records are promoted by the TGS through its educational classes, research trips, special interest groups, publications, monthly meetings and annual conference.

The Society is incorporated under the laws of the State of Kansas as a not-for-profit, non-sectarian, non-partisan organization. It shall, at all times, operate as a tax-exempt organization within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding sections of future United States Revenue Codes.

All donations to the Society are tax deductible within IRS guidelines.
