The Topeka Genealogical Society maintains and operates an extensive research library, which includes more than 8,000 book titles, and 700 genealogical periodicals covering 45 states. Our collection includes many primary source vital records pertaining to Shawnee County and Northeast Kansas, as well as numerous and diverse resources pertaining to other states and countries. New additions to the library collection are made on an ongoing basis. For those who are unable to visit the library in-person, TGS does offer research services for a nominal fee.
The library, located at 2717 SE Indiana Avenue in Topeka, is open to the public, with a $3.00 donation requested of non-member library patrons. Library operating hours are 1:00 to 4:00 pm, each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The library is staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who will be happy to assist you with your research. The library is closed for designated holidays, and may close due to inclement weather. See below for scheduled closing dates.
