The following, with updated detail, surname & spelling corrections, is a combined listing (Surnames E - K) of World War One casualties taken from the Honor Roll (Shawnee County Edition) book (published about 1919/20 -KSHS Library call #K 940.9 Sh2 or Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library call #917.8163 HON), an article published in the Topeka State Journal on 5th March 1920, the Victory Highway Memorial in Gage Park, Topeka plus other pertinent information gathered from newspapers from that era. Extensive research into casualty reports, daily orders/reports and US Army Divisional summaries has also been conducted at the The National World War I Museum in Kansas City.
Those names, which are unique to the Gage Memorial and/or the 1920 Topeka State Journal newspaper article, are marked with an *asterisk and shown in blue.
Other casualties discovered from newspaper research to be from Shawnee County and not mentioned in any of the above sources, are marked with a double **asterisk and shown in brown.
There are still some detail for this listing that needs to be established. Research is continuing and, as progress is made, updates will be posted to this Honor Roll.

Son of Henry Lorenzo & Edith May (DUNHAM) MILLER, husband of Florence (FLETCHER), Topeka, KS
MIA 8 Oct 1918 in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. His service unit at the time of his death is in question - the Tablets of the Missing at the Meuse-Argonne Cemetery shows Clarendon Miller as a Corporal in the 7th Infantry, 3rd Division whereas he is shown as part of the Machine Gun Company, 353rd Infantry, 89th Division in the History of the 353rd Infantry Regiment. Page 243 of History of the 89th Infantry Regiment states: "Relieved by the 37th Division on the night of October 8th, the regiment moved for participation in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. The members of this company were transported in trucks from Beney to Jouy, arriving there the morning of October 9th.”.
